Quarter Bends Before
Plast-aid® Breaks
How do I know if Plast-aid® will stick?

You can find out if Plast-aid® will stick to your broken plastic item with a simple test.

  1. Put one finger on the open top of the liquid bottle, tip it over and get a drop of Plast-aid® on your finger.
  2. Lightly rub the liquid on the area you want to repair. It's also a good idea to test on an inconspicuous spot consisting of the same type of material as the repair.
  3. Watch and see if the area becomes tacky to the touch. If so, Plast-aid® will work like a charm.

What if your item is made of wood, metal, stone, etc?

Plast-aid® works great on porous surfaces, so if your item is slightly rough, Plast-aid® will form what is called a "mechanical" bond to it. For example, notice our "quarter and pvc pipe tee" at the top of the page. Plast-aid® has "chemically" bonded to the pvc tee - meaning it has actually become a part of it! However, it is "mechanically" holding the quarter. It can do this because the quarter has enough roughness for it to grab a hold of. In fact, the hold is so strong that the quarter bends when you try and get it out! So the answer is "YES." Plast-aid® will create a stong hold to porous materials like wood, roughened metal, stone (not polished), and many other rough materials.
